Looking Back to Go Forward
We go backwards in time to examine your life; to understand how the problem started, reprocessing the issues that caused the trauma. We rewrite the story healing the wounded parts, allowing you to live your life fully with increased mental capacity and a healthy range of emotions.
Some symptoms that are experienced by people with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder): intrusive thoughts, flashbacks, nightmares, high anxiety, fear/terror, hypervigilance, dissociation, numbing, difficulty concentrating, intense anger and rage, eating disorders, difficulty with sleep, self-harming acts, and substance abuse.
You receive personal support as we go through this process.
If you struggle with the issues above, consider getting help. People who have experienced a traumatic past often live with feelings of intense guilt and shame and have difficulties with trust and intimacy. If you are a parent, your intense emotions may cause you to become dysregulated (agitated, anxious, uncertain and fearful) making day-to-day parenting especially challenging.
I have found EMDR to be especially effective in treating trauma and other related disorders such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, relational issues and dissociative disorders.
